Ben and Michelle Algiere of Algiere’s Landscaping in Preston, CT pride themselves in creating a unique work culture in that they strive to provide a fun environment. In the past they have raised funds for a local charity, gone to a concert together and participated in Preston’s Trunk or Treat.
Another way they have accomplished that is by acquiring a mascot. Thanks to the creative mind of Sarah Marshall Edmond and her GinchyBots, we have Big Al.
In the spirit of Algiere’s Landscaping’s attitude towards fun, we’re bringing Big Al out of retirement. He’s been out playing in the snow, and will be appearing randomly with the crew this landscaping season.
Big Al loves to tag along with the guys and help with spring clean ups. From raking up last fall’s leaves that came down late to pruning out winter kill, Big Al helps keep the spirit of fun for Algiere’s Landscaping crew.
Why the belief in fun? In construction [which is what landscaping is classified as] it can be very much a boys club and extremely physically demanding at times. Keeping the work environment fun relieves tension and helps everyone stay motivated.
